Pauline Books & Media On-line Privacy Policy


This on-line Privacy Policy is provided to make you aware of how we collect, use and manage information of visitors to our Internet Web Site (IWS). The Publisher and its related entities view the personal privacy of users as an important issue, and we are committed to maintaining the security of personal information provided to us by users in accessing our IWS. This policy forms part of the Terms of Service of the IWS, and describes how we treat personal information that we receive through your use of our IWS.


Definitions
The Trustees of the Daughters of St Paul (trading as Pauline Books & Media) ABN 23 370 778 012 ("the Publisher") is a member of the Catholic Church Religious Group.

"Pauline Books & Media", "the online book centre", "we", "us" and "our" means the Pauline Books & Media and all of its related bodies corporate. A related body corporate means a related body corporate as defined in the Corporations Law of Australia.

"IWS" refers to the Internet Web Site Pauline Books & Media.

"User/s", "you" and "your" refers to users and customers of the IWS.

'Hyperlink' means any mechanism of providing a link from one location on the Internet (or a web page) to another location on the Internet (or a different web page, or a different location on the same web page), and includes any mechanism for linking to, or providing access to, files via the Internet.

'Intellectual Property' means all intellectual property rights as defined by Article 2 of the World Intellectual Property Organisation Convention of 1967, in any inventions, designs, trademarks, trade names, circuit layouts, plant varieties, business and domain names, logos and get-up, confidential information, matter, materials or works accessible on or via Pauline Books & Media’s web sites.

"Internet Services" means the supply of Goods and Services by Pauline Books & Media including without limitation access to the Pauline Book & Media website at www.paulinebooks.com.au, ordering through the online book centre, and to anything on Pauline Book & Media’s website including without limitation subscription to Pauline Books & Media’s mailing lists.

 

What Information Do We Collect and How Is It Used?
We collect the following information from visitors to our IWS: domain name, IP address, information regarding what pages are accessed, information volunteered by you, such as survey information, e-mail address, and your preferred means of communication. We collect and log this information for statistical purposes.

We will also collect additional information in relation to customer orders, subscribers of Pauline Books & Media’s mailing lists, and customer book reviews as set out under the heading "Information collected during Ordering, Mailing List Subscription & Customer Book Reviews", and that additional information will be used by us for processing customer orders and subscriber database management purposes and such information will be provided as necessary to financial institutions. Through the use of a "cookie" (see under "Cookies"), we can record the pages you visit and the information you require. On this site cookies are necessary to add your selected items to your shopping cart.

Other than as stated in the preceding paragraphs, no attempt is made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect logs, or where we believe it is required to collect and produce relevant electronic documentation to use and disclose your personal information, fulfil its obligations to any third parties, including statutory organisations under local law and regulatory bodies.

We will only use and disclose your personal information if necessary to protect any copyright or intellectual property in any material on our IWS, or if it is necessary to enforce our IWS Terms of Service.

We may use third-party advertisers to deliver advertisements to your web browser whilst you are viewing our IWS. We accept no responsibility for any information collected by third-party advertisers once you click on an advertisement and leave our IWS.

Except as specifically stated in this Privacy Policy, we will not share your personally identifiable information with any individual or organisation that is not associated with the Publisher.

 

Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that web sites may write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information, such as a userID, that the web site uses to track the pages you have visited. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you personally supply. A cookie cannot read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other web sites.

Our IWS uses cookies to add your items to the web site’s Shopping Cart and to then permit you to continue browsing the web site. This cookie is deleted once your order is finalized, or after a period of time if you fail to finalise your order. You can also refuse all cookies by turning them off in your browser. However, full web site functionality will require the use of cookies.

 

Security
We take all reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, destruction, misuse, modification or disclosure as far as is permissible under law, but we accept no responsibility for any unauthorised access gained to any of your personal information in our possession.

 

Customer Book Reviews
The Publisher reserves the right to reject any review it receives. Customer book reviews are submitted to an approval process before publishing to the IWS. Reviews may be edited for length (shortened) before publishing, and any review that is deemed offensive or in any way inappropriate will not be published. Customer email addresses collected in the process of submitting a book review are not published to the IWS with the review.

 

Information collected during Ordering, Mailing List Subscription & Customer Book Reviews
In the process of submitting orders, subscribing to one of Pauline Books & Media’s mailing lists, or submitting a customer book review, the following information will be required and used by us:

  • e-mail address;
  • name;
  • organisation name;
  • address, telephone number and fax number;
  • payment details, such as credit card details or your customer account number with us

Only your email address will be permanently stored in the IWS database. Customer information collected during ordering is deleted from the IWS on fulfillment of the order.

 

Updating this Privacy Policy
As the content of this Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time we suggest that you return to our IWS on a regular basis and carefully read the information provided.
