This book explores the cultural diversity of contemporary parishes brought about largely through ethnic groups and generational change. New ethnic groups moving into Parishes have brought an important multicultural dimension to often a largely mono-cultural Parish. In addition change has been effected by new generations of Catholic young adults with childhood experiences of their faith very different from those of their elders. The author offers a view of Catholicism through the eyes of Catholics from these different cultures. This is accompanied by suggestions of ’welcomg practices’ which offers parish leaders hope and encouragement as they seek to respond to evolving parish contexts. Such insightful research shows how all in a parish can evolve from a mere tolerance of difference to becoming enriched by the beauty that each culture brings to our common heritage of faith. Recommended uses of this book For parish ministers, educators, and parents learning how to evangelize and minister to unfamiliar cultures. For Parish and group leaders trying to build a strong community made up of members who represent a variety of ethnic backgrounds and ages.
