This work presents a model of how the Catholic marriage ritual may be adapted to the language and culture of a particular people. It examines the revised typical edition of the Marriage Rite, analysing its theology, liturgical principles, and directives for the work of inculturation. This is followed by a discussion of theological and liturgical principles that must guide the development of an adapted rite. The author then studies the customs, rites, and beliefs of the Ilocano people in the Philipines regarding marriage. Finally, he presents a liturgical ritual adapted for the Ilocano people.
